Expand your writing area with composition mode

The composition mode allows you to expand your writing area and access additional formatting options.

  1. Click the Text icon to enter the composition mode.

  1. In composition mode, use the Enter key to add a new line.
  2. Compose longer messages and format the text with:

  1. To exit the composition mode, select the left Close icon .

Change your text color

You can use other text colors in your message. Font colors don't appear in the Activity Feed.

  1. To change the text color, highlight the desired text.
  2. Select Font color and a color.

Insert hyperlinks

  1. To insert a hyperlink:
    1. Highlight text in your message to pre-select the text to display, then click the Hyperlink icon and add the link URL.
    2. Copy-paste the link URL in your message, click the activated Hyperlink icon to add a title, then select OK.

Create numbered and bulleted lists

  1. To create a list:
    1. Pre-select text in your message and click the Numbered List icon or the Bulleted List icon to create a list.
    2. Select the Numbered List icon or the Bulleted List icon to start a list.
  2. To remove list formatting, select the text formatted as a list and then select the active list icon.

 

Insert tables

You can copy-paste a table from another application into the message field to send it as an attachment, as well as click on an attached table to preview it, but you cannot edit a copy-pasted table.

  1. Click the Insert table icon to insert a 3x3 table.
  2. To add or remove rows and columns to the table, hover over the table dots and use the +/- icons.

   

  1. To resize a column, hover over a vertical line, then grab and drag the line left or right.

Insert code snippets

  1. To insert a code snippet:
    1. Pre-select the text you want to change into a code snippet, then click the Code Snippet icon , choose the coding language from the dropdown list.
    2. Select the Code Snippet icon first, then enter text.
    3. Copy-paste code lines from another app code snippet into the message field. 

  1. To remove the code snippet formatting, select text, then the active Code Snippet icon .

Use emojis, attach files, and take screenshots

You can add attachments, emojis, and screenshots to your messages. When using the Symphony Desktop Application (SDA), you can also send chimes.

Composition mode shortcuts

On Windows

  1. Click or press the Ctrl+Shift+X keys to activate the composition mode and write a message while having access to all formatting options. The same shortcut closes the composition mode.
  2. Click or press the Ctrl+Enter keys to send your message, where pressing Enter still sends to the next line in composition mode.

On macOs

  1. Click or press the Command +Shift+X keys to activate the composition mode and write a message while having access to all formatting options. The same shortcut closes the composition mode.
  2. Click or press the Command +Enter keys to send your message, where pressing Enter still sends to the next line in composition mode.
