Symphony Messaging offers a unified, frictionless workflow for message blasts across all channels, enabling you to manage reusable and multi-channel lists. You can send a message blast to a mix of selected Federation and Symphony Messaging chats and contacts or using a self-built distribution list.
The new Blast enables you to:
- Send a message blast to recipients on-the-fly.
- Create, edit, save, and reuse distribution lists.
- Send a message blast simultaneously to selected Federation and Symphony Messaging chats, as well as chats in a folder.
- Easily invert the recipient selection before sending messages.

Set up recipients to send a message blast
- Select the Blast icon
in the left navigation bar.
Here, you can also access the Blast feature from the More options menu at the top of the chat list by selecting Blast message.
- Click Add recipients
or Create distribution list
to add people, chats, or folders containing multiple chats.
“Create distribution list” and “Add chats” in the central message are only available as long as you don't have any distribution lists saved.
For better visibility, you can expand or collapse an existing distribution list with this button .
- Click Add recipients
to search for contacts and chats.
- Type the name of your contacts or chats in the search field, select them and click Add.
Users entitled for Federation channels can also search for and add Federation contacts.
The recipients appear in the main screen as Unsaved distribution list.
- Click the More options menu
either to:
- Invert the selection.
- Save the list - enables you to create a distribution list.
- Discard the list - brings you back to the first screen with the choice to create a list or add chats.
- Type your message and send it to your list.
Save your selection to a distribution list
You can select people and chats first and save them to a distribution list, even after sending your message.
To save a distribution list:
- If you already made a selection, click the More options menu
and Save to new list.
- Name your distribution list and click Create.
Your distribution list is ready and you can send your message. You can also deselect people or chats from the list and use the Invert selection option to triage them faster.
Create, edit, delete a distribution list
You can create a distribution list and send a message blast to that new list. You can edit that list by removing or adding contacts or chats.
Supported recipients are:
- Symphony chats, including folders
- External Symphony chats
- Federation chats
Create a distribution list
- Click Create distribution list
.
- Name your distribution list.
- Click Add chats to add contacts or chats.
- Click Create.
Edit a distribution list
- To edit a list you can either:
- Click Edit distribution list
and select the required list to modify an existing list.
- Click the More options menu
and Edit list.
- Click the More options menu
next to a contact or chat in your list and select Remove from list or click Add chats to add new ones.
Delete a distribution list
To delete a list:
- Select Delete list from the More options menu
next to a list.
- Click Delete when editing the list.
Send a message blast to selected recipients in a distribution list
- Once you have set up a list of recipients - either an unsaved or saved distribution list - you can simply select or unselect the lists or the recipients within each list.
You can select all lists, unselect them or invert your selection:
- For all selected lists:
- For a specific list, from its More options:
- Write your message in the dedicated text field - attachments are also supported - and click Send to send the message blast.
You will get confirmation that your message has been sent.
Blast in Mini view and Embedded Mode
On the desktop app, you can access the Blast feature from the three-dot menu in Mini view. Additionally, you can open the Blast modal in Embedded Mode from the Blast icon in the top bar.
