Turn on Touch Mode
When connecting to Cloud9, you will see a one-time prompt asking you if you wish to enable Touch Mode. If you don’t make any selection within 10 seconds, the application will default to the standard desktop mode with Touch Mode turned off.
You can manage this setting at any time in the application settings (Settings menu > Application tab > Touch Mode). Mouse-controlled interactions can be re-enabled by turning off the Touch Mode option.
Access the context menu
In Touch Mode, the context menu of a connection button opens via its More Options menu, providing a touch-friendly interface for reliably accessing all connection customizations.
The context menu button can be opened from any connection buttons or call well in Touch Mode. To close the menu, tap outside the menu.
Adjusting a button’s volume
- Use the volume slider that is always visible in the connection context menu to adjust or mute audio for each connection.
- Tap the Speaker icon to mute the connection and again to restore the previous volume level. Adjusting the slider while muted both unmutes and sets the new volume.
Push-to-Talk option
You can activate the Push-to-Talk functionality from the context menu of a connection button for Shoutdown, Intercom, Hoot, and Group Broadcast connections.
- Latching ON: Tap the button to talk and the microphone remains open as long as you don’t tap it again to close the line.
- Latching OFF (Momentary state): Buttons act as Push-to-Talk where you must tap and hold the button down for the microphone to remain open. Releasing the button closes the line.
This setting automatically syncs with the Advanced Settings and your connected hardware like a CloudHub or a 24-Button Board.
Optimized Touch Mode user experience
- Page navigation and layout editing is optimized for Touch Mode to ensure quick and reliable access with:
- Enlarged navigation controls: The Previous Page ( < ) and Next Page ( > ) buttons on the button board navigation bar have been significantly enlarged for reliable page switching.
- Aligned headers: Page column header text elements (such as PAGE 1, FAVORITES) now have increased padding/height to align visually with the enlarged navigation buttons.
- The Edit Layout icon
is enlarged to provide a reliable touch target.
- Dropdown menus with larger tappable areas to open the menus and the list items within. Users can scroll vertically through long dropdown lists using standard touch-based swipe or drag gestures, consistent with the expected behavior for large lists on touchscreens.
- Enlarged call wells: The main call well has increased in height, and icons (such as Mute, Hold) have been enlarged to create adequate touch targets.
- Enhanced controls bar: The controls bar (dark area) has significantly increased in height, with its icons enlarged to provide a reliable touch target of minimum 44 x 44 px.
- Enhanced scrolling: touch friendly scrolling on various Cloud9 pages.
