Symphony Messaging reactions are a way to quickly express your feelings, give feedback, or send a message without typing out a response.
You can react with the same emojis you find in the emojis picker, but you cannot pick another skin tone.

Where can you react?
You can use emojis in the messages you type or as reactions to the messages of others in internal direct chats and rooms. Some rooms might not allow you to react based on the settings defined by the room owner.
To react to a message:
- Hover over a message and select either one of your recently used emojis or the Smiley+ icon to access more emojis via the emojis picker.
- Select your emoji that is displayed as a reaction at the bottom left of the message.
- Change or remove your reaction by clicking the emoji reaction attached to the message.
View who sent a reaction
Reactions are displayed under a message with a number indicating how many times each emoji has been used, but you cannot tell who reacted.
To view reaction details and people who reacted:
- Hover over the reactions under a message to display the details of who reacted using which emoji.
- Click See all reactions to view the full list of people who reacted.
Be notified of people reacting to your messages
You can get desktop notifications and view notifications in the Notifications Center when people react to your messages.
- For notifications with the Smiley icon
indicating that the reaction was selected from the emojis picker, click the notification to go to the message and view the reaction.
- Select the Settings
and set in the Notifications settings whether you want to receive notifications for reactions via desktop notifications and sound.
Allow people to send reactions
If you are not able to react in a chat room, this means that the room owner(s) decided against letting people react in the room. Only room owners have the ability to change this setting. Room members can send reactions in a room if the room owner creates it without changing the default settings.
To enable or disable reactions in a room:
- Select the Chat Details from the three dots menu in the top bar of a chat room.
- Go to the permissions section and set the Let members add reactions setting.

To avoid any potential misinterpretations, it’s important others understand the meanings behind reactions. Choose wisely and don’t leave too much room for interpretation!
