Mini view gives you the ability to work in a narrow window of the Symphony Messaging desktop app and gain space on your screen. Note that users working in Capital Markets mode don’t have access to their workspaces in Mini view and that extensions apps and signals are not available.

Enter Mini view
- Pull the corners or edges to reduce the window to a narrow width until you reach the size the app enters Mini view.
The app switches to Mini view without needing to reload; the full window layout will be restored when you exit Mini view.
Work in Mini view
The navigation bar is placed at the top of Mini view.
- Click the + icon to create a new chat.
- Access menus that are not displayed in the navigation bar from the More Actions menu:
- Connections
- Meetings
- Saved Messages
- Activity Feed.
The Activity Feed, Saved, and View Profile menus open in a pop-out window.
The chat list uses a spacious display in Mini view, but if you work with a condensed display in the extended view, the display of chats will be condensed in Mini view.
- Click the Kebab menu to access the chat filters and sort out options:
- Show folders
- Group chat by chat type
- Recent activity
- Alphabetical (A-Z)
Tip: Always keep Symphony Messaging in view by enabling the Always on Top setting from the Hamburger menu in the top left corner of Mini view.
Message people in Mini view
- Select the Chat icon .
- Select a chat in the list to open it in the Mini view window.
- Hover over a chat to display its More options menu and access further actions:
- Mute: Don’t get any notifications from this chat.
- Open: The chat opens in the Mini view pane.
- Open in new window: Pop out the chat in a new window you can resize.
- Move: Move the chat to another folder or choose to create a new folder.
- Remove from folder: Remove the chat from its folder.
- Click Chat or Close to come back to the chat list.
New activity notifications in Mini view
A dot next to a menu indicates new activity (red dot = @mention in message; blue dot = you are not mentioned):
- In chats: new messages
- In notifications: new notifications for messages or events in rooms and chats
Exit Mini view
- Expand the app window to exit Mini view.
Disable Mini view
You can make sure never to switch to Mini view when you resize Symphony Messaging to a narrow window.
- Select the Settings menu in the navigation bar.
- Turn off Mini view in the General tab of the app settings via the Enable Mini view on resize setting.
