Set a room's discoverability

Symphony Messaging users can create 3 types of chat rooms: private, public, and external.

Private and public rooms only include internal members from the same company, while external rooms can include members from the same company, as well as members from other companies.

Each room type has a discoverability setting that allows it to appear in Symphony Messaging search results. The discoverability setting is different depending on the room type, as well as any custom settings.

Private rooms

A private room can be set set to be discoverable or not at the moment the room is created. Room owners can also modify this setting after the room is created, from the Chat details menu.

Public rooms

Public rooms are always discoverable to anyone within your company. This setting cannot be modified.

External rooms

External rooms are never discoverable. Only users who have been invited can join these rooms.
