Create Intercom connections

Intercom stands for internal communication. You can have peer-to-peer Intercom connections or Group Intercom connections.

Peer-to-peer Intercoms

To create peer-to-peer Intercoms:

  1. Select the C9 Community tab , then the Create Invitation tab, and the C9 Intercom tab.

  1. Select the checkbox of each user you want to connect to — you can search for them in the search bar —, then select the Invite button.

If you select a single user, the button will auto-populate with the name.

  1. Relabel the connection, select a page of your button layout, and select OK.

Note: The person you invited to connect with can accept or ignore the connection.

Each Peer-to-peer Intercom can be set to function as one of these options:

  • Ringing: You hear a ring tone when somebody calls you and you can choose to pick up. The call will continue to ring until answered or ignored.
  • Auto-Answer: You are automatically connected to an incoming call and your microphone is turned on, ready for you to talk.
  • Auto-Speaker: You are automatically connected to an incoming call so you can hear the call participants, but your microphone is muted.
  1. To set the way you receive calls for an Intercom connection, right-click the Intercom button and select the option in the Receive Call dropdown menu.

If Auto-Answer is not enabled, when you select the connection you will hear a ring tone and your peer will hear a ring notification. They must select the connection for you both to be connected.

Peer-to-Group Intercoms

You can send a connection invitation to a group. All invited people in that group will need to accept the connection. Once accepted, the connection will be displayed on the selected page of your button layout. To call out to the team, you must select the connection:

  • Green button: You are transmitting.
  • Red button: You are hearing the audio of others on that connection.

If you have a Button Board, you can program this connection on your button board.

Like peer-to peer Intercoms, peer-to-group Intercoms can be set to function with Auto-Answer, Auto-Speaker, or Ringing.
