Remove a contact who does not have a WhatsApp account

If you onboard a contact who doesn’t have the WhatsApp app and add them to a WhatsApp chat room:

  • A warning message appears at the top of the CONTACTS tab of the WhatsApp extension app.

  • The contact’s card displays the Unavailable status.
  • A message is sent in the chat informing that the contact’s WhatsApp account cannot be found.

Note: No error message will be returned if the contact is not added to any room.

  • The contact is grayed out and cannot be added to rooms.

This error is shown when the contact number you are trying to add is not registered on WhatsApp.

To remove an unavailable contact:

  1. Select the Learn more link on their card or in the warning message.
  2. Select REMOVE in the WhatsApp Account Not Found pop-up dialog.

After removing the contact, ask the user to create a WhatsApp account or to provide their correct phone number and retry the onboarding.

If the contact number is verified as registered on WhatsApp and you are still receiving the error, please contact Symphony Support at support@symphony.com.

Full details on WhatsApp can be in the Federation WhatsApp documentation on Symphony Docs.
