The chat list top bar and menu give you access to all filtering, sorting, and display options for your chat list.
@mentions and unread messages filters
You can filter your chat list by @mentions or unread messages to help you access the information you want more easily.
- To filter your chat list, select the @mentions or Unread tab at the top of your chat list.
Chat list menu options
You can choose which chats you want to see and in which order in your chat list. Federation users benefit from additional options to show or hide chats by channels (WhatsApp, WeChat, SMS, SMS & Voice Direct, or LINE).
- Click the Chat List options button
to display the filtering and sorting options.
A blue dot on the icon indicates when at least one filter is selected.
Channels: (for subscribed Federation users only) Select channel filters to display only the chats corresponding to your selection in the chat list.
Visibility Options:
- Show folders: Display your chats without the folders there are in.
- Group by chat type: The chat list shows your custom folders, followed by a Direct Messages folder for direct chats you haven’t put in any folder, then a Group Chats folder for your groups chats.

Show muted chats (muted chats are indicated by this icon
): You can disable this option to hide muted chats from your chat list. If you are mentioned in a hidden muted chat, it will temporarily reappear before being hidden again.
Sorting:
- Recent activity: Chats are listed based on the last message received or sent in a chat.
- Alphabetical: Sort the chat list in alphabetical order.
