Symphony paragon desktop client loading issues

In some instances, antivirus software can prevent Symphony from accessing the required libraries on startup, resulting in a blank screen and a single message in the Console log (Figure 1 and Figure 2):

Additionally, the following message may appear in the Render Process log:
2018-07-31 11:18:35.290 12172 1 ERROR Paragon.Runtime.Plugins.PackagedPluginAssemblyResolver Error loading unmanaged dll: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp\msvcr120.dll' because it is being used by another process. 2018-07-31 11:18:35.302 12172 1 ERROR Paragon.Runtime.Plugins.PackagedPluginAssemblyResolver Error loading unmanaged dll: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp\msvcp120.dll' because it is being used by another process. 2018-07-31 11:18:35.336 12172 1 ERROR Paragon.Runtime.Plugins.PackagedPluginAssemblyResolver Error loading unmanaged dll: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp\libeay32.dll' because it is being used by another process. 2018-07-31 11:18:35.344 12172 1 ERROR Paragon.Runtime.Plugins.PackagedPluginAssemblyResolver Error loading unmanaged dll: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp\ssleay32.dll' because it is being used by another process. 2018-07-31 11:18:35.345 12172 1 ERROR Paragon.Runtime.Plugins.PackagedPluginAssemblyResolver Error loading unmanaged dll: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp\SFE-CryptoLib-Project.dll' because it is being used by another process.

Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files are used for holding multiple codes and procedures for Windows programs. The DLL files mentioned below are unzipped from the Symphony.pgx file located in the installation directory on each initiation of the Symphony Paragon desktop client.

Once opened, Paragon will start the Paragon.Renderer process which loads these DLLs in a specific order to decrypt messages and render the Symphony user interface:
  • msvcr120.dll
  • msvcp120.dll
  • libeay32.dll
  • ssleay32.dll
  • SFE-CryptoLib-Project.dll

If your antivirus software is preventing this process from initiating, the antivirus application must be identified and the aforementioned libraries and binaries must be whitelisted to prevent the application from restricting their access.

If the issue persists, please contact the Symphony Support team at support@symphony.com and inform them that you are experiencing issues with loading the Symphony Paragon desktop client.
